I spent this weekend with Family down in our usual log cabins at Skeagh Lake in County Cavan. For those that follow the blog will know this is a regular escape from the world for me where I can’t even get cell coverage. While this was not a photography weekend per-se I’ll always take my camera gear with me and at the very least take a wander around the forest to see what captures my eye. While I was here last October I captured one of my favorite images from 2010 entitled The Abandoned Boat. There were no dawn rises on this occasion however, this weekend was strictly R&R.
That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy wandering with just my Canon 5D Mark II and 100mm macro however and the above image was one of the images I captured during an evening walk. I came across this tiny buttercup almost lost inside tall blades of lush green grass that were drenched after a downpour an hour earlier. I set the camera up on the tripod very low to the ground so the lens was peering through the grass at the delicate flower.
