A Floral Image | Anemone on Green

Purple Crocuses were having way too much fun on my blog this Spring so I thought I would break up the party a little with an Anemone. They are a flowering plantsin the buttercup family Ranunculaceae in the north and south temperate zones. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Greek anemōnē means “daughter of the wind”, from ánemos “wind” + feminine patronymic suffix -ōnē. But others suggest that this is a folk etymology, and that the word actually comes from a Semitic language. This image is also from my visit to the Mount Usher Gardens.

    Lovely, John. Great composition and separation of the subject. Moreover this is quite unusual view. Just one thing: are you sure that it is a Snowdrop? It looks much more like Anemone to me.

      Thanks Tomas. I think you are absolutely correct, it is an Anemone. I’ve now replaced all references of Snowdrop with Anemone. Thank you for your help.
