Early Morning Dew

Another image from my recent travels. This time one of my favorite subjects – floral macro. These flowers were in the garden of the log cabin we were staying in in Cavan. It was great to see them still blooming so late in the year. You can just see the single drop of dew hanging off the foreground petal.

This flowers were very low to the ground, no doubt to protect them from the elements. I needed to sit on the ground with my tripod splayed out in front of me to create the composition I was after. The flowers were drooping over a fallen log also and I wanted to capture some of that rough texture in the image to act as a juxtapose to the delicate petals. I did not however wish for the bark to dominate the image so it was important that I managed my depth of field correctly to ensure the viewer was drawn to the flower.
