Patience

My Dog Elmo waits patiently for my attention while I set up the strobes for a studio shoot.

Well heres something completely different for this blog. I was setting up my strobes to take a self-portrait last night as I need a new passport. My dog Elmo, a little Golden Cocker Spaniel wandered in and jumped up on the bed to wait patiently for my attention. He was still lieing there when I had finished arranging the lights so I popped off a few shots while he relaxed.

Main strobe with a softbox behind camera left at f/14. The key light was actually set-up for f/11 with a 2nd strobe setup against a white background at f/18 to do a high-key shoot. However Elmo was a little too close the the main for f/11 and I couldn’t bring myself to move him.

Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Exposure: 1/160 secs
Aperture: f/14
Focal Length: 100mm
ISO Speed: 100

@MyChi Nice photo :-) You’re going to get in serious trouble with the Passport Service when they receive that though.

@DT6biz haha you reckon? Don’t they say pets begin to emulate their owners….or is it the other way round?

Sweet image and lovely model :-)

Dogs are always lovely things to change. Too bad they usually move, or not as in your case.

A friend of mine took a series of dog portraits a while ago. Something which I understood took a lot of patience and food.

Here are some images of that if you are interested:

Thanks Sven, yes Elmo enjoys the more relaxed lifestyle.

Those portraits a really nice. Love the background, almost looks like a cloudy sky, really adds depth to the images.
