Well here’s something a little different for me, a vertical pano. I remember seeing Peter Lik’s imagery for the first time when I visited one of his Galleries in Port Douglas, Australia. There, I saw these 3 meter tall 1 meter wide astonishing images and I was left gob-smacked. I new I wanted to try and produce one of these.

And here is my first attempt. From the same day as Sunrise upon the Rocks but captured six minutes earlier. What a difference six minutes makes at sunrise!

With a 4 sec exposure the sea has been smoothed out but still appears as a solid mass, rather then the very ethereal quality of longer exposures. This solidity has helped to define the wonderful glowing light of the sun in the reflections across the water and some of the rocks. Overall the image is quite dark with a lot of it in heavy shadow including that hulking cliff to the left. I chose to keep it this way however as I think it only helps to emphasis those lovely warm towns I mentioned earlier.
