Looking out across the Upper Lake to the snow capped mountains behind in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, Ireland
This is from the same recent trip to Glendelough, Co Wicklow that I described in the “Just Before Dark” Images. However this was several hours earlier. We still have the same overcast sky with pockets of harsh light penetrating some of the area’s with lighter cloud area.
When shooting this image I had Black & White at the forefront of my mind, but what I didn’t realise until I looked at the image on the computer was how high-contrast I wanted to take it. And it’s pretty extreme I’ll admit. I’ve left very little detail in the mountains on the left or right to allow the viewer be drawn into the image and towards that far off snow covered peak. Along the way you can pick up the lovely cloud detail reflected in the water and just about make out the stream running down the valley.
Was I successful? I think so, but I will let you be the judge.
Hope you enjoy.
